Repurposing the existing sauna room into a modern staff training room.

This strategic refurbishment changed the centre's focus from leisure to professional development to satisfy staff training needs. The usual staff breakout space has been rebuilt to incorporate two new changing rooms and two new access bathrooms, streamlining operations and staff convenience.

This project's Changing Places compliant bathroom showcases our dedication to diversity and accessibility. Installation of a designed hoist system in the ambulant bathroom highlights the project's attention to detail and dedication to a precise and practical result.

A preliminary slab scan used to assure a smooth demolition procedure missed some concrete footings. The unexpected discovery of these footings during demolition halted construction and required an engineering redesign and architectural drawing update. The structural surprises added five weeks to the project timeframe, but the Beek Build team showed tenacity and adaptability.

A second onsite challenge came during the removal of an external door to be replaced with a window. The team found many stacks of copper pipes under the mud and bricks, endangering the wall's structural integrity but not connected to the building's systems. This required more demolition to remove the piping and wall reconstruction. Despite these challenges, our knowledge and problem-solving skills assured the project's success.
